Question by shnazzy: Renting a car in Ireland — will I have trouble?
I am Canadian, Female, and would be 24 years old at the time. I have my full license (G-class in Ontario). I do not own my own car, but have secondary insurance on my parents’ vehicle.
If I wanted to rent a car in Ireland, would there be any issues that you could think of?

remember we drive on the left,a couple of friends of mine had bad head on crashes with americans whose flight arrived early in the morning when there was little traffic and well u can get the rest the country has been transformed in recent years with the mototway system but dont get a stroke when u see or petrol prices anyway enjoy,also most rentals seem to be small japenese nissan micra etc.

I hold a full Irish driving licence and I live in Ireland. I want to come over to England for a weekend but I don’t own a car of my own. Can I drive my parent’s car over to England without being insured on it. The car however, is insured under my parents name. I’m assuming legally it would not be allowed, but in reality, since I’m in a foreign country with a foreign driving licence and car, if I were to get caught, would they let me off the hook?

If you’re a named driver on the policy it’s a good start.
Check it with the insurer.

1. There is no federal auto insurance requirement
2. I can buy auto insurance from any state in the U.S.
3. Auto insurance company’s are private.

kiran C. Yeah you can use the commerce clause if you ignore the rest of the constitution, like the 10th amendment. The supreme court has already ruled that insurance in not commerce. The commerce clause referes to interstate regulation which according to liberals own legislation health insurance is not interstate since noone can buy out of state insurance.
